Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has strongly condemned an attack on the residence of its Head of Mission in Khartoum, Sudan, by a Sudanese army aircraft. The aircraft attack on UAE Ambassador in Sudan resulted in extensive damage to the political premises, and the UAE has called on the Sudanese army to take full responsibility for the incident, which it described as a heinous and cowardly act.
In account with the attack on the residence of UAE Ambassador in Sudan, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) highlighted the fundamental principle of the inviolability of diplomatic missions, as outlined in international treaties governing diplomatic relations. The ministry also stressed that it will file formal complaints with the League of Arab States, the African Union, and the United Nations, showcasing the attack as a blatant violation of international law.
The MoFA demanded for greater protection of diplomatic buildings and staff, underscoring the importance of maintaining the safety of embassy personnel and their residences during disputes. The ministry also restated its stance against all forms of violence, terrorism, and any actions that destabilize security and peace.
The UAE’s condemnation comes among escalating violence in Sudan, where conflict between rival military factions has caused widespread instability. Diplomatic missions and foreign entities in the country have become increasingly threatened as the situation deepens.
The UAE urged the Sudanese authorities to ensure accountability for the attack and emphasized its commitment to working with international organizations to uphold international law and protect diplomatic missions.
