Dubai, UAE: Art Jameel, in collaboration with Dubai Culture, has revealed the recipients of the prestigious ‘Research and Practice Platform’ grants. This initiative aims to support artists, curators, writers, and researchers across the UAE, enabling them to develop and deepen their practice through financial backing and mentorship.
The grants are part of a broader effort to foster artistic growth and innovation within the UAE’s burgeoning creative scene. Recipients were selected based on their innovative proposals, spanning diverse disciplines including visual arts, literature, and cultural research.
The selected projects will receive both financial support and professional guidance from established mentors and curators within the industry. By providing these resources, the initiative seeks to bridge gaps in the creative sector and create new opportunities for UAE-based talents.
Art Jameel and Dubai Culture emphasize that this grant program aligns with their shared mission to empower the local creative community, enhance cultural dialogue, and promote artistic development. This collaboration is a part of ongoing efforts to position Dubai as a leading global hub for contemporary art and culture.
Khulood Khoory, Director of Projects & Events at Dubai Culture, affirmed the Authority’s commitment to developing skills and encouraging certain practices to ultimately achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, said that, “Through its diverse projects and initiatives, Dubai Culture seeks to provide creatives and entrepreneurs with all the tools that enable them to present innovative ideas and adopt advanced solutions in cultural and artistic fields, and the Art Jameel Research and Practice Platform grants provide them a means to address the climate crisis.”
Nora Razian, Art Jameel Deputy Director and Head of Exhibitions and Programs, stated that, “This is the second edition of the Research and Practice Platform, supported by Dubai Culture, and marks a joint interest in and commitment to activating the role of the arts in raising awareness and engaging the broader public in sustainability. The Open Call launched last year, in line with the UAE Year of Sustainability and the lead-up to COP28 in Dubai. We see the influence of these milestone events reflected in the breadth of innovative ideas we received from young, UAE-based creatives, who are deeply engaged with local ecological concerns. We look forward to seeing these ambitious projects come to life over the next year.”
The announcement of the grant recipients underscores the UAE’s commitment to nurturing artistic excellence and fostering a dynamic environment for cultural production.
