Dubai: On the sidelines of the 37th International Sports Medicine Conference, recently held in Mexico, the Chairman of the Sports Medicine Committee and National Olympic Committee Dr. Hashel Al-Tunaiji, was chosen to join the Development Committee of the International Sports Medicine Federation (FIMS).
The International Federation of Sports Medicine (FIMS) was established in 1928. The Federation is a highly professional and well-organized international association that is firmly committed to the global advancement of sports medicine.
Dr. Al-Tunaiji was chosen to join the Development Committee of the International Sports Medicine Federation in an effort to round off the accomplishments made by the UAE at the most recent International Sports Medicine Conference, where Dubai was declared as the host for the 38th Edition of the Conference in 2024.

A lot of sports medicine committees from all over the world, as well as orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, and psychiatrists, were at the Conference.
Dr. Al-Tunaiji expressed his pleasure at this achievement, which would not have been possible without the state’s great place in all sectors, including the medical sector, and was made possible by the UAE’s exceptional potential to establish itself as a well-known venue for hosting significant events on the calendar of international organizations and institutions.
The sports medicine committee chairman pointed out that the work started as soon as it was revealed that Dubai had won the right to host the 38th edition of the international medical sports event. Dr. Al-Tunaiji shared that there was a lot of competition to host from other developed countries, such as Croatia and Chile, and that there would be ongoing meetings with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism in the coming months to figure out all of the important parts of running the conference and making sure it was a unique experience.
