Abu Dhabi: The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has announced that Al Masar Park in Khalifa City, Abu Dhabi, has officially opened for its citizens.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by prestigious personalities such as Mr. Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, Dr. Salem Al Kaabi, Director General of Operational Affairs at the DMT, Mr. Saif Badr Al Qubaisi, Director General of Abu Dhabi City Municipality, and Mr. Hamad Al-Mutawa, Executive Director of Operations Affairs Sector at DMT. Also in attendance were other senior officials from the department.
The park provides additional amenities for leisure and entertainment, aligning with DMT’s strategy to increase green spaces as well as public facilities to enhance the quality of life in the Abu Dhabi emirate. The project is in line with Abu Dhabi’s urban development plans, promoting sustainable development and delivering qualitative projects that position Abu Dhabi as a preferred destination for living, working, and visiting.

The new public park offers a wide range of facilities and amenities, including a multi-purpose sports playground equipped with spotlights and featuring beach volleyball, badminton, and basketball courts. The new park boasts a 2.1-kilometre jogging track and is adorned with 2,841 trees, 58,000 shrubs, and ground cover plants. Additionally, it features parking lots with a capacity for up to 97 cars, including four designated spaces for individuals with disabilities.
The Department of Municipalities and Transport was established by Law No. 30 of 2019, and its top priorities are to carry out the leadership’s vision, which is based on the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s vision for the UAE, which was to embrace progress by placing a high value on pursuing development in line with the needs of both the present and future generations as well as the community as a whole.
