Ajman: The Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Cyprus Institute, aimed at strengthening collaboration and coordination in the fields of sustainability and clean energy.
The MoU was signed by Eng. Khalid Moeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector at MPDA, and Professor Jean Sciari, Director of The Cyprus Institute, during a ceremony attended by several high-ranking officials from both institutions.
Khalid Moeen emphasized that the agreement aligns with MPDA’s vision and strategic goals, reflecting both parties’ commitment to enhancing their cooperation. The partnership supports the overarching goals of the UAE, particularly the Emirate of Ajman, in advancing scientific research and studies focused on air quality, emissions, clean energy, and carbon neutrality.
Professor Sciari highlighted the shared objectives between The Cyprus Institute and MPDA in conducting innovative, fact-based research in sustainability and environmental studies. Jean Sciari noted that both entities are dedicated to addressing climate change challenges and air pollution through cutting-edge climate and atmospheric research.
The MoU encompasses joint initiatives and projects within Ajman aimed at improving air quality while promoting sustainable development. It includes the exchange of expertise and knowledge on air quality strategies and projects, as well as organizing workshops, seminars, conferences, and events to foster idea-sharing on air quality and carbon neutrality. Both parties will also participate in each other’s activities to further these efforts.
The agreement also encourages collaboration in launching joint research and development projects focused on innovation and carbon neutrality, reinforcing their commitment to preserving and sustaining the environment.
