Ajman: The Transportation Authority in Ajman has partnered with Visa, a global leader in digital payments, to allow contactless payments on public transport buses in Ajman, supporting the emirate’s smart mobility goals.
According to the agreement, travelers on buses in Ajman can use contactless payment methods on their mobile devices or Visa contactless cards to pay for their rides.
Salima Gutieva, Vice President and Country Manager for the UAE, and Sami Ali Khamis Al Jallaf, Executive Director of the Public Transport and Licensing Corporation at the Transport Authority – Ajman, signed the agreement.
Omar Mohammed Lootah, Director-General of the Ajman Transport Authority, and Michael Berner, Head of Merchant Sales and Acquiring for Visa for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa were present.
To accomplish shared strategic objectives and improve passenger satisfaction by introducing a contactless payment system in the nation, the agreement called for strengthening cooperation. This would be achieved by fostering partnership relationships between the two parties.
Omar Mohammed Lootah, Director-General of the Ajman Transport Authority, said that, “Adopting a contactless payment system has become an urgent necessity in light of the government digital acceleration witnessed by the UAE in all fields, especially in the transportation system.”
“The agreement aims to develop the field of digital payment in transportation in the Emirate of Ajman, as part of the authority’s strategy to support urban mobility through smart and sustainable solutions that contribute to facilitating the customer experience and making it exceptional,” he added.
