Abu Dhabi: UAE’s National Space Strategy 2030 is set to gain a significant boost as Abu Dhabi University (ADU) collaborates with the UAE Space Agency through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
This partnership aims to foster innovation in space science, research, and technology, aligning with the nation’s vision to strengthen its space capabilities.
The agreement was signed by Professor Ghassan Aouad, ADU Chancellor, and HE Eng. Salem Butti Salem Al Qubaisi, Director General of the UAE Space Agency, at ADU’s campus.
This partnership will engage ADU students and researchers in advancing the country’s space capabilities, contributing to its economic growth and reinforcing the UAE’s leadership in the global space sector.
His Excellency Salem Butti Al Qubaisi, Director-General of the UAE Space Agency, emphasized that the new partnership aims to enhance the country’s space capabilities by fostering collaboration with academic institutions. Al Qubaisi noted that the agreement will direct research toward national priorities, support technological innovation, and promote knowledge transfer.
The collaboration also seeks to empower Emirati students and researchers, enabling them to contribute to cutting-edge projects that reinforce the UAE’s leadership in space exploration. Al Qubaisi highlighted the importance of these efforts in addressing future space challenges and advancing sustainable development in the sector.

The MoU establishes a joint focus on advancing research and development (R&D) initiatives in line with the UAE’s Space Science and Technology Policy (SSTP) and roadmap.
ADU and the UAE Space Agency will collaborate on projects supporting national space activities and the UAE’s Space Economic Zones.
The partnership will also seek to optimize resource usage through the Space Facility Sharing program, while placing significant emphasis on risk management to raise awareness of space-related risks among both students and the broader community.
