Abu Dhabi: ADNOC Gas plc has revealed that, Worley Engineering Pty Ltd has been awarded the Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) contract for new gas processing facilities at Bab Gas Cap (BGC).
The new gas processing facilities, set to boost ADNOC Gas’ processing capacity by over 1.8 billion standard cubic feet per day (scfd), symbolize a 20 percent increase in capacity, with a Final Investment Decision (FID) expected in 2026. The state-of-the-art facilities will optimize the production of natural gas liquids (NGL), condensate, sales gas, and sulfur, aligning with ADNOC’s strategy to support the UAE’s gas self-sufficiency.
Dr. Ahmed Alebri, CEO of ADNOC Gas, underlined the significance of this milestone, stating that, “This project has the potential to substantially increase our gas processing capacity, unlock additional revenue, and strengthen ADNOC Gas’ position as a global supplier. It also highlights our commitment to supporting the UAE’s energy goals through cutting-edge gas processing technologies.”
Advanced design and technology integration
The BGC project encompasses a wide design scope, including:
- Gas processing and conditioning units
- Acid gas recovery and dehydration units
- Sulfur and NGL recovery units
- CO2 capture facilities
- Construction of injection facilities and related utilities
New product pipelines will be developed to transport liquid sulfur to the Habshan Sulfur Granulation Plant efficiently. Hydrocarbons for the facilities will be sourced from innovative developments within the Bab field. Through advanced field development studies, ADNOC has enabled simultaneous oil and gas extraction, opening production potential of up to 1.5 billion cubic feet per day (BCFD) of gas and 80,000 barrels per day (MBD) of condensate. The BGC project strengthens ADNOC’s broader vision of enhancing the UAE’s energy landscape while securing its position in the global energy market.
