Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) has announced the introduction of the “Best Hunting Knife” competition, marking the first time such a contest will be held in its history.
The initiative aims to foster creativity and innovation among individuals and companies involved in the production of hunting tools and equipment. The competition seeks to showcase unique ideas and new knife designs that serve the hunting community while promoting knowledge exchange and experiences in the field.
Both individuals and companies are invited to participate in the competition, provided that the knives they submit were produced in either 2022 or 2023 and are displayed during the exhibition. The 20th edition of ADIHEX, organized by the Emirates Falconers’ Club, will take place from August 23rd to 29th, 2023, with sponsorship from the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, the International Fund for Houbara Conservation (IFHC), and the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

The hunting knife should demonstrate its practicality and usefulness for hunting enthusiasts and road trips. Criteria for evaluation include ease of carrying, storing, and using the knife, as well as providing comfort to falconers, reducing effort and time, and adapting to the natural environment. Other factors to consider include efficiency, quality, durability, safety, hand protection, versatility, the quality of materials used, sustainability, and resistance to weather conditions such as rust. The design should reflect aesthetic and cultural heritage, with a particular focus on the handle. Additionally, the hunting knife should be reasonably priced for accessibility.
ADIHEX regularly features a wide array of hunting knives of various types and sizes. These knives serve as essential tools for hunting, camping, and road trips, with a significant heritage value that has captured the interest of generations. They represent timeless tools that have been carried throughout the ages and are still used today during hunting and outdoor expeditions.

Mr. Mohammed Al-Amiri, CEO of Tamreen, a renowned UAE-based company manufacturing hunting knives, highlighted the significance of participating in ADIHEX each year. The exhibition provides a unique platform for businesses, falconry equipment manufacturers, experts, and hunting enthusiasts to convene in one location, showcasing their products in well-designed stands. Last year, Emirati manufacturer Mr. Abdullah Al-Ahmad introduced Oryx Custom Knives, a locally produced range inspired by the Arabian Oryx, symbolizing nature.
