Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) has achieved a remarkable milestone by setting a Guinness World Record for the largest falcon hood ever created. The record-breaking hood measures an impressive 1.95 meters in diameter, surpassing the minimum requirement of 1.65 meters.
This extraordinary accomplishment was achieved under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, with the collaborative efforts of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and the ADNEC Group. The achievement highlights ADIHEX’s commitment to preserving and showcasing Emirati culture and heritage on a global stage.
Abdullah Mubarak Al Muhairi, Acting Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, expressed pride in the achievement, noting that the record is not just a testament to their partnership but also a reflection of their dedication to preserving the Emirati falconry heritage, an integral part of their national identity. He emphasized that this accomplishment contributes to the UAE’s legacy and highlights Abu Dhabi’s pioneering role in cultural preservation.
The falcon hood, an essential tool in falconry, was designed with meticulous attention to technical and traditional aspects. Crafted using camel skin and traditional Emirati techniques, the hood is vital for training falcons, helping to calm them and shield their vision. The achievement underscores ADIHEX’s role in promoting the authentic heritage of the UAE.
Humaid Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNEC Group, commented that, “We are honored to have set this Guinness World Record at ADIHEX. This achievement reflects our commitment to celebrating and preserving Emirati heritage and serves as an inspiration for future generations to appreciate and continue the legacy of falconry.” This record not only marks a significant cultural milestone but also contributes to the global recognition of the UAE’s rich falconry traditions.
