Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) is participating in the 18th edition of the Al Dhafra Festival, which commenced in Sweihan, Abu Dhabi.
The event is organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and will continue until 30th January 2025.
At the Al Dhafra Festival, ADAFSA will offer a range of logistical and veterinary services to camel owners and livestock breeders across various Mazayna locations such as Sweihan, Razeen, and Madinat Zayed.
A mobile veterinary clinic, equipped with a team of veterinarians and technicians, will perform health checks on participating camels to ensure they are free from diseases like brucellosis. Additionally, the clinic will provide laboratory tests, diagnostics, and treatments for livestock farm owners and breeders attending the festival.
Participants will receive eight complimentary veterinary services, including treatments, farm and livestock spraying, blood tests, surgeries, and medicine distribution.
Over the past year, 185,797 veterinary services were provided to 130,700 camels, covering various types of treatments, examinations, and follow-ups.
ADAFSA’s veterinary experts will provide guidance on best farm management practices, such as herd health management, parasite control, and proper livestock nutrition through concentrated feeds.
Since 2009, ADAFSA has been supporting the Al Dhafra Camel Mazayna (beauty competitions) Festival by providing curative and preventative veterinary services and conducting laboratory tests for participating camels.
ADAFSA aims to enhance farm management, animal health, and welfare, while also promoting sustainable agricultural practices in Abu Dhabi. Their participation underscores their ongoing support for the agricultural sector and animal well-being.
