Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has recently launched a campaign to inspect food establishments, particularly confectionery shops involved in the preparation and sale of sweets, pastries, roasteries, bakeries, confectionery factories, chocolate factories and popular kitchens in various regions of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra. The purpose of this campaign is to ensure that food products handled in these establishments are safe, particularly during Eid Al Fitr, which sees a surge in consumer demand.
To achieve this goal, ADAFSA is intensifying field visits and inspection campaigns to these food establishments to ensure that they comply with health and food safety standards and provide safe and healthy food that guarantees the well-being and safety of all members of the community. The inspection campaigns are aimed at identifying any incorrect practices and ensuring that these establishments apply the best practices that prevent contamination of products, particularly cross-contamination with workers and equipment, during the preparation, making, storage, display and transportation processes.

Furthermore, the inspection campaigns are designed to raise awareness among the owners of these establishments and their employees about the importance of storing food items at appropriate temperatures and preparing them properly to ensure that safe food reaches all consumers and promote food safety requirements. It is essential that food products are prepared and stored under hygienic conditions and are free from any kind of contamination that may cause health hazards to consumers.
ADAFSA has urged the public to report any observations of food products or improper cooking practices by contacting the Abu Dhabi Government Call Centre on 800555. It has also advised people to avoid buying from unlicensed sources as they may not comply with food safety regulations. The authority is committed to ensuring the safety of all food products, and its efforts towards achieving this are laudable. The public must also take responsibility for their safety by being vigilant and reporting any concerns they have regarding the safety of food products.
