Abu Dhabi: The Organizing Committee of the “Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Agricultural Excellence Award” has invited to submit applications for the award. The prestigious award is given to outstanding farmers and breeders across the country.
The application will be accepted till 15th January 2023. The “Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Agricultural Excellence Award” will hold a number of competitions as part of the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba this year, and crop farmers, livestock breeders, beekeepers, aquaculture, and commercial farms will be able to compete for prizes worth up to $1 million, divided into 56 prizes.
The organizing committee has established several restrictions and prerequisites, for the acceptance of applications for award nomination in its many categories. The Award, which is kindly supported by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Presidential Court, and Chairman of ADAFSA, supports the UAE’s leadership position in the field of agricultural sustainability as it is one of the major pillars in the march toward comprehensive and sustainable development.
The Award will encourage the use of global best practices to advance the agricultural industry, guarantee resource sustainability, foster innovation, boost plant-making, encourage animal production, as well as improve food and biosecurity.
The Award promotes farmers to use production practices that have positive economic and social impacts while protecting the environment as well as raising production per unit of farmed area in order to improve sustainability for crop farms.
It also aspires to implement cutting-edge, contemporary agricultural practises that promote resource sustainability and the use of climate-smart agricultural systems to allow continuous, and diverse production the year.
As for livestock, the Award aims to encourage and honour breeders and commercial farmers, as candidates eligible to win are the ones who apply measures to protect the health of humans, animals and plants as well as reduce the spread of epidemics, in addition to following the best practices in nutrition and animal welfare to achieve higher productivity rates.
A number of competitions are held as part of the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba along with the Award. The Outstanding Farmer and Breeder Category, Agricultural Innovation Category, and Commercial Farms Category are the three main categories for the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Agricultural Excellence Award.
