Abu Dhabi: The Traffic Safety Technical Committee has introduced the Work Accelerators plan, under the direction of the Joint Traffic Safety Committee, which is headed by the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT). Members of the Abu Dhabi Mobility, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), and the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police make up the Joint Committee.
The initiative encourages the integration and collaboration of national governmental and private efforts to provide swift and urgent solutions to current challenges, set a timeframe for implementing plans, and then evaluate the results. The work accelerators include the development and execution of interactive plans among teams from various prominent government organizations in Abu Dhabi to meet obstacles head-on and accomplish goals quickly.
The six key areas prioritized by the Work Accelerators for Intensive programs are;
- Analyzing traffic accidents and extracting lessons learned,
- Enhancing pedestrian and micro-mobility safety,
- Ensuring delivery drivers’ safety,
- Improving freight transport safety,
- Addressing driver behavior
- Reviewing road speed limits.
The three phases of the Work Accelerators plan are Delivery, Acceleration, and Design. Teams led by leaders and traffic safety specialists will oversee the efforts.
Abdulrahman Al Shizawi, head of the Traffic Safety Technical Committee at DMT, stated that the committee has established Accelerator Teams to create swift plans that bypass routine procedures. He said the aim is to minimize the number of traffic accidents that lead to injuries, lowering the detrimental effects on society and the economy while improving the emirate’s standard of living.
To make a noticeable difference in the number of lives saved on the roadways, the Joint Traffic Safety Committee wants to put government accelerators in place. To lower accident rates and guarantee safe and easy movement for all Abu Dhabi road users, the committee intends to give top priority to the ongoing testing and implementation of contemporary techniques and systems. Additionally, the committee wants to enhance awareness campaigns and educational initiatives that support safe driving habits.
