Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has introduced new guidelines for construction signboards across the emirate, aiming to enhance transparency and accessibility in the construction sector.
Effective from October 2024, the traditional signboards displaying essential project details will be replaced by QR codes, giving the public, inspectors, and regulatory bodies easy access to real-time information.
The QR-coded signboards will replace conventional displays that typically list the project name, construction company, and estimated timelines. By simply scanning the code, users will gain immediate access to the latest project details, including location, permit type, and project specifications.
The information, continually updated through the Municipal e-Permitting System (MePS), will ensure accuracy and compliance, including any changes to construction firms or engineering companies involved.
The DMT has instructed contractors to update existing signage and implement the QR codes on all new projects, positioning them prominently at site entrances. This initiative is part of DMT’s ongoing efforts to modernize the construction sector, setting new standards for transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency across Abu Dhabi.
Driven by innovation and sustainability, the DMT aims to build smart cities, adapt to change, and sustain prosperity for future generations across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
