Amir Al Sham Restaurant and Grill in the Khalidiya area of Abu Dhabi was shut down by the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) for violating food safety regulations. ADAFSA stated that the restaurant’s activities posed a significant risk to public health.
Authorities revealed that the restaurant breached Law (2) of 2008, which governs food-related standards in Abu Dhabi. The restaurant’s operations failed to meet the required hygiene and safety protocols, putting the public at risk.
ADAFSA regulates food safety in the emirate, ensuring that businesses follow strict guidelines such as proper food handling, cleanliness, and contamination prevention. Food handlers are required to maintain personal hygiene by wearing gloves and hairnets.
The authority also manages the Food Import and Export Management System (FIEMIS) to monitor food safety from import to consumption, guaranteeing safety across the supply chain. Inspections are regularly conducted to check compliance with food safety regulations, including proper storage, pest control, and clear labeling.
In addition, food handlers must complete the Essential Food Safety Training (EFST) to ensure they are fully aware of the practices that help prevent foodborne illnesses.
