Abu Dhabi: The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, in collaboration with the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an, has launched the ‘Together for Education’ campaign, focused on providing essential aid to low-income families in Abu Dhabi.
From 16th September to 15th October 2024, the campaign seeks to raise 27.23 million$(AED 100 million) in social contributions from individuals and corporations to help 6,000 students by financing their overdue school fees.
Under the theme ‘Equipping minds, shaping futures,’ the initiative also plans to provide operational costs of schools in the UAE, ensuring students receive necessary school supplies, and help them follow their educational journey without interruption. By supporting students from low-income backgrounds in completing their education, the campaign develops to build a brighter future for both individuals and the broader community, considering Abu Dhabi’s commitment to educational equality and humanitarian efforts.
The campaign highlights the core value that education is mandatory for every student in the UAE, fostering social solidarity and reinforcing the nation’s strong tradition of giving and community support.
Jointly organized by the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation and Ma’an, the campaign will organize funds collected from social contributions to support students and cover educational and social needs. Mohamed Haji Al-Khoury, Director General of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, highlighted the campaign’s alignment with the Foundation’s mission to empower social solidarity and provide innovative solutions through cooperation with national entities.
Al-Khoury stated, “This initiative depicts another milestone in the UAE’s longstanding history of philanthropy, aiming to support financial and social barriers that could prevent students from completing their education.”
Eng. Abdullah Al Ameri, Director General of Ma’an, remarked that the campaign provides a smooth mechanism for organized contributions and offers an opportunity for the community to support education sustainably.
Al Ameri commented that, “Together for Education reflects our joint commitment to strengthen individuals and organizations to address social priorities, such as education, and create a cohesive community.”
Contributions can be made through Ma’an’s online platform, dedicated ATMs, and kiosks across shopping malls, with the funds directed toward schools’ operational costs and school fees for eligible students. Support applications will be processed through Ma’an’s online portal, with federal and local authorities determining beneficiaries.
The campaign builds on the success of previous humanitarian initiatives in the UAE and demonstrates the country’s continued focus on meeting basic human rights, including the right to quality education for all.
