Abu Dhabi: Emirates Global Motor Electric (EGME), a subsidiary of the Al Fahim Group and a leading provider of electric mobility solutions in the UAE is launching an all-new fleet of battery electric and hydrogen bus fleets. This initiative is part of the Green Bus Program, spearheaded by the Integrated Transport Center “Abu Dhabi Mobility,” which strives to enhance public transportation with sustainable options.
This milestone conveys a significant step toward Abu Dhabi’s ambitious sustainability goals, aligning with the emirate’s dream for a greener future. The partnership follows the earlier deployment of nine electric intercity buses from MCV, an Egyptian manufacturer, which enabled transportation for COP28 visitors between Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi and Expo City in Dubai.
The newly launched fleet comprises 15 buses, observing the first region-wide integration of both electric and hydrogen power in public transport systems. Ahmed Al Fahim, Chairman of the Al Fahim Group, expressed his enthusiasm for guiding Abu Dhabi’s transition to sustainable public transportation. Ahmed Al Fahim stated that, “Our commitment to sustainability aligns with the emirate’s vision for a greener future. We are committed to supporting initiatives that improve the quality of public transport while reducing environmental impact.”
Hany Tawfik, Head of Emirates Global Motor Electric, highlighted the significance of the Green Bus Program, stating that, “EGME’s participation highlights our commitment to providing reliable electric commercial vehicle solutions. We are also aligned with Abu Dhabi’s aim to transform the island into a green public transport zone by 2030.”
EGME, as the distributor for MCV, is dedicated to providing eco-friendly transport solutions within Abu Dhabi and neighboring emirates. Additionally, as a distributor for Wisdom Motors, a leading Chinese hydrogen bus manufacturer, EGME is donating cutting-edge hydrogen technology to the fleet.
The introduction of these buses arrives at a pivotal moment, as Abu Dhabi and the UAE strive to handle climate change and reduce their carbon footprint, targeting net-zero emissions by 2050. The integration of electric and hydrogen-powered buses into the public transport system is a testament to this responsibility, and the launch of the Green Bus Service is expected to remake public transportation in Abu Dhabi, paving the way for a greener, cleaner future.
The new bus fleet officially started operations with the launch of the Green Bus Service, promising to improve the public transport experience while promoting environmental sustainability.
