Abu Dhabi: The Jiu-Jitsu Championship has started as part of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, bringing together leading clubs and academies from the UAE and abroad.
The opening day has featured competitions for athletes aged 10 to 17 in the grey, yellow, orange, and green belt divisions, where participants have delivered strong technical displays that reflect their preparation and training standards.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, the seventeenth edition of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship has continued to attract high levels of participation. The presence of well-established academies and experienced coaches has further strengthened the event’s reputation as a key stop on the international jiu-jitsu calendar.
Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, UAEJJF Board Member, stated that, “Today showed how much the championship has evolved in terms of organisation and technical level. We saw strong and advanced performances from youth athletes. These age groups are the foundation of jiu-jitsu’s future, and they provide national teams with talented athletes.”
The championship will continue tomorrow with the youth blue and purple belt divisions, where even more advanced performances are expected due to the involvement of top-tier talent from local and international teams.
With its strong international turnout and consistent youth participation, the Jiu-Jitsu Championship has reinforced Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading global hub for the development of the sport. The event continues to build a pathway for young athletes, strengthen competitive standards, and promote the values of discipline, respect, and sportsmanship.
