The fog, which is expected to persist during early mornings throughout the week, has impacted visibility in areas such as Al Khatim, Sweihan, and Khalifa Industrial, making driving conditions hazardous. The NCM advises residents to remain vigilant, particularly on highways connecting Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Al Ain.
Abu Dhabi Police began the activation of temporary speed limits posted on electronic signs on roads. They are also posting hourly updates on their social media handles for the motorists to be aware before they set off on their journey, they also inform when they lift up the speed limit.
Abu Dhabi’s Department of Transport’s traffic safety committee had agreed on a plan to reduce speeds during poor weather and motorists who break the 80 kph speed limit will be subjected to pay fines.
The red alert follows fog warnings, as the country experiences this shift in weather patterns. Motorists are advised to check for updates and adhere to reduced speed limits to ensure safety during the foggy mornings.
