Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Cycling Club has unveiled an initiative to draw sports visitors, notably cyclists and their families from around the world.
The initiative seeks to enhance Abu Dhabi’s standing as a top bicycle tourism destination in the world, especially in light of the emirate’s recent receipt of the Union Cycliste Internationale’s (UCI) designation of “Bike City.”
In accordance with Abu Dhabi’s vision of introducing cutting-edge sports tracks and facilities, as well as tourist, entertainment, and hospitality places, the Abu Dhabi Cycling Club signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Wilver, a leading European company in the field of sports tourism, specialising in the field of bicycles, to provide tour packages and programmes to entice athletes and world champions from various countries of the world to the UAE.
The Abu Dhabi Cycling Club and the Wilver company’s interest in signing the MoU, which will strengthen efforts to support the sports tourism fields in the nation, was praised by Mr. Talal Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. Mr. Al Hashemi emphasised his confidence that the two parties will fully utilise their strengths.
The agreement, as per Mr. Matar Suhail Al Yabhouni, chairman of the board of directors of the Abu Dhabi Cycling Club, is the result of the club’s and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s desire to draw cyclists, cyclist fans, and their families, thereby promoting tourism and showcasing the aesthetics of the cities that host these events.
