Abu Dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council has met with Brad Smith, Vice Chair and President of Microsoft, to analyze strategic collaborations in artificial intelligence, energy, and climate sectors.
The meeting, held at the Abu Dhabi Energy Center during the ENACT Majlis, brought together over 80 leaders from global energy, technology, and investment industries. Talks centered on improving cooperation between ADNOC, Masdar, G42, and Microsoft to leverage cutting-edge AI technologies. The goal is to adjust to rapid global developments and drive change in the energy sector, concentrating on low-carbon solutions that support the AI ecosystem.
Sheikh Khaled emphasized the significance of utilizing Microsoft’s expertise in technology and AI to support the UAE’s clean energy transition. The collaboration aims to boost AI ecosystem growth across various sectors and industries.
Further discussions stressed the partnership’s commitment to powering Microsoft’s data centers with renewable energy, reflecting the UAE and Abu Dhabi’s dedication to sustainability and carbon reduction. This initiative aligns with the continued efforts to position the emirate as a leader in green technology and endurable energy solutions.
The meeting follows the release of a joint report on 31st October 2024 by ADNOC, Masdar, and Microsoft, titled Powering Possible: AI and Energy for a Sustainable Future. The report investigates how AI can enhance energy efficiency, manage complex systems, and support a net-zero future while handling the increasing energy demands associated with AI technologies.
Attendees of the meeting included Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO; Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi; and Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
