Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled an upgraded version of the nol Pay app, boasting a modern, refreshed design and a range of enhanced functionalities.
The update delivers a smoother and more seamless user experience, improving ease of use, efficiency, and overall functionality. It reflects RTA’s ongoing commitment to customer satisfaction and convenience, particularly for public transport users across all segments of society in Dubai, reaffirming nol Pay’s position as a vital digital payment solution.
As part of the first phase of RTA’s project to upgrade the nol system using Account-Based Ticketing (ABT) technologies, the app’s launch focuses on achieving several strategic objectives.
These include aligning the app’s interface with the unified ‘Look and Feel’ of RTA’s digital ecosystem and supporting Dubai’s ‘Services 360’ policy, which aims to integrate services digitally across government entities, simplify procedures, eliminate unnecessary requirements, and reduce transaction times, enhancing efficiency, flexibility, and overall quality of life.

The initiative also reinforces RTA’s commitment to advancing the Government’s Zero Bureaucracy Program. The upgraded nol Pay app introduces a wide range of new features and enhancements:
- Manage family members’ nol cards, including submitting applications for children, linking or deactivating family cards, and recharging balances for individual members.
- Schedule automatic top-ups for family cards at user-selected amounts and intervals.
- Receive proactive notifications to remind users to top up low balances, renew expiring nol cards, or extend travel pass validity in advance.
- Instant nol card top-ups and real-time balance inquiries.
- Instant purchase of travel passes.
- Additional in-app services, such as mobile phone balance top-ups.
The app also supports digitizing nol cards on Samsung and Huawei devices, enabling users to pay across all public transport modes and retail outlets with a simple tap, without opening the app.
By the end of 2024, over 33,000 digital cards had been sold, marking an increase of more than 460 percent compared to the previous year. The app also recorded 1.5 million downloads, reflecting a year-on-year rise of over 150 percent compared to 2023.
The upgrade underscores RTA’s mission to provide convenient, innovative, and technologically advanced solutions for Dubai residents and visitors, making nol Pay a central tool for enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of public transport services.
