The inaugural edition of the STAR OF SECTOR Awards has been postponed as organisers move to uphold the integrity and credibility of the recognition. Initially scheduled for November 29, 2025, the awards will be rescheduled to a later date following what organisers described as a necessary decision to maintain the initiative’s high benchmarks.
The awards, jointly initiated by GCC Business News and Emirati Times under the umbrella of WellMade Network FZC LLC, aim to celebrate business excellence and innovation across industries in the Gulf region and beyond.
According to the organisers, an unexpectedly high number of entries were received for the first edition, yet fewer than ten submissions met the judging panel’s stringent standards for recognition.
“Our mission has always been to honour true excellence, not just participation,” the organising committee said in a statement. “While it would have been easy to proceed based on quantity, that would go against the very ethos of what STAR OF SECTOR represents.”
The organisers added that while postponing the event involved operational and financial implications, the choice was made to preserve credibility. “Prioritising commercial returns over merit would compromise the authenticity of the awards and diminish their long-term value,” a spokesperson from WellMade Network commented.
They emphasised that the decision reflects the organisation’s wider commitment to transparency, quality, and trust; values that have long guided WellMade Network’s editorial and brand philosophy.
New dates for the event, along with details on the reopening of nominations, will be announced in the coming weeks. The organisers said the additional time will allow them to refine the evaluation framework and attract a broader set of credible entries that exemplify innovation and leadership.
“We view this as an opportunity to strengthen the foundation of the awards and reaffirm our commitment to recognising genuine achievement across the region,” the statement concluded.
