Sharjah: The Sharjah Roads upgrade in Al Rafiaa has been completed, marking a significant enhancement in the emirate’s road infrastructure.
The project involved upgrading the 17-kilometre stretch linking Junction 10 with Al Rafiaa and extending to Emirates Road, aiming to support growing traffic demands and ensure higher safety standards.
According to Eng. Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, this development is part of a wider plan to improve infrastructure across rapidly developing areas. The upgraded road now connects multiple regions more efficiently, providing better access to Emirates Road and supporting comprehensive urban development.
The works included comprehensive asphalt maintenance, resurfacing layers, and widening road shoulders in both directions. U-turns and intersections have been upgraded, while new directional and traffic signs have been installed to enhance safety. These measures aim to accommodate rising traffic volumes and ensure smoother, safer travel for residents and visitors alike.
