Abu Dhabi: The highly anticipated 4th Al Sila Marine Festival is set to take place from 4th to 8th December 2024 at Al Sila Beach in Abu Dhabi’s Al Dhafra Region. Organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, the event is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region.
Spanning five days, the festival will showcase 57 marine, sporting, and beach competitions, with a prize fund exceeding $1.0,89 million (AED 4 million). Key highlights include the Al Sila 43-ft Dhow Race, Barakah Traditional Sailboat Race, Al Sila Sheri Fishing contest, falconry championships, cycling and running events, as well as popular beach sports like volleyball and football.
In addition to competitive events, visitors can immerse themselves in the UAE’s cultural heritage through traditional games, folk art performances, and community entertainment activities designed for all age groups. A vibrant traditional market will feature stalls run by local families and small businesses, offering heritage crafts and authentic Emirati cuisine.
Other attractions include the Noukhada Majlis, serving as a cultural hub for maritime stories, and dedicated sponsor and exhibitor stands highlighting contributions from participating organizations.
The festival is a celebration of the UAE’s rich maritime traditions and cultural legacy, aiming to highlight the significance of traditional sports and crafts within the community. By promoting the unique coastal heritage of Al Dhafra, the event also seeks to boost tourism and economic growth in the region while delivering an engaging experience for residents and visitors alike.
