Abu Dhabi’s Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), in collaboration with 42 Abu Dhabi and the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), has launched a series of AI Summer Programs. Aimed at inspiring students to lead in the transformative AI field, these programs target 2,400 students from grades 9 to 12 across public, private, and charter schools.
Generative AI and Prompt Engineering Bootcamps
The bootcamps, in partnership with 42 Abu Dhabi, offer hands-on AI learning for grades 9-12. Over four weeks, students will enhance their problem-solving and future-ready skills through two formats. A full-day bootcamp at six schools in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra provides intensive insights into Generative AI and Prompt Engineering, focusing on fine-tuning language models and practical AI tools. Alternatively, a 2-hour session, in collaboration with Majalis Abu Dhabi, offers a condensed learning opportunity for Emirati students through interactive group exercises.
MBZUAI Collaboration and AI Olympiad Preparation
MBZUAI’s five-day summer program for grade 11 students includes workshops on film production, generative AI, responsible AI, and sustainability research. ADEK and MBZUAI are also preparing four Emirati students for the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI), set to take place from August 9-15 in Bulgaria. Two MBZUAI students will mentor the team.
Mubarak Hamad Al Mheiri, ADEK Undersecretary, stated that “We are committed to preparing a generation ready for the evolving AI landscape. The AI Summer Programs will empower young minds to drive meaningful global change. By partnering with world-leading institutions like 42 Abu Dhabi and MBZUAI, we ensure Abu Dhabi’s youth receive best-in-class AI training”.
