Ras al Khaimah: Elevating the heartbeats of marathon enthusiasts across the region, the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTD) recently unveiled the race route and technical sponsor of the much-anticipated 2022 Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon.
The race which is organized on the 19th of February, will see the return of some world-class marathon talents who will compete for the top prize.
MEN’S COMPETITION
The world’s fastest half marathon will witness some serious competition as Kenyan runner Mr. Abel Kipchumba go head-to-head with top international athletes Mr. Jacob Kiplimo and reigning champion of the 2020 Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon, Mr. Ababel Yeshaneh.
With a series of blazing fast finishing times in his recent outings at 2021 Valencia Half Marathon and 2021 Adizero Road to Records, Mr. Kipchumba, the holder of second-fastest time in the 2021 Half Marathon distance category, will join this year’s competition with a lot of confidence under his belt.
WOMEN’S COMPETITION
Current Marathon World Record Holder, Ms. Brigid Kosgei, an experienced and highly sought-after marathon runner will be in the limelight to better her personal time. Ms. Kosgei’s achievements include second place in the XXXII Olympic Games Marathon, first place in the 2020 and 2019 London Marathon and second place in the 2020 Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon.
THE RACE
Notorious for its fast, flat course, 2022 Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon will kick off from Marjan Island Boulevard, right opposite the Double Tree by Hilton and the vibrant Race Village.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of the Arabian Gulf, the race will take the runners a stunning course through the island, passing all major hotel destinations as they head along Sheikh Mohammed bin Salem Road, circle through Al Amwaj Avenue before heading back to the starting point to cross the finish line.
The race route offers spectators plenty of opportunities to watch and cheer athletes.
TECHNICAL SPONSOR

The unveiling of the race routes, technical sponsor and elite athletes of the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon marks an important milestone for this 15th edition.
