Dubai: The 11th edition of the Sikka Art and Design Festival was inaugurated by Ms. Hala Badri, Director-General of Dubai Culture, under the theme “New creativity,” and was patronaged by Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) and Member of the Dubai Council. It featured a wide range of artworks, installations, murals, and creative exhibitions that adorn the Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood.
Ms. Hala Badri was given a summary of the festival’s highlights before seeing the homes in the area, each of which featured a diverse array of artwork. She started her journey by visiting the installation “Threads of Time: weaving history on a blank canvas,” which was created by the artists Ms. Reema Al Mheiri and Mr. Hamda Ahmad Al Falahi in honour of the rich weaving legacy of the area. She also went to see the Fatima Al Ali mural “Ya Labes el Tally” and the House 38 exhibit of works of art by Ms. Fatima Jawad, Ms. Maryam Al Huraiz, Ms. Maitha Al Omaira, and other artists.

The current edition of the festival features six murals, nine outdoor installations, over one hundred talks, panels, and workshops, as well as a wide range of musical and cinematic performances and other entertainment activities held in an inspiring environment. In addition, over thirty local food and beverage concepts were developed in partnership with Brand Dubai and fueled by “Proudly from Dubai” members to highlight the entrepreneurs and owners of these businesses.
Sikka Art and Design Festival, which is a part of the Dubai Art Season, also offers its visitors the chance to partake in one-of-a-kind cultural and artistic experiences. This festival was created by Dubai Culture in collaboration with a number of institutions and art centres with the goal of showcasing events and activities that highlight the aesthetics of the arts and reflect the diversity of Dubai’s creative scene.
